The Caswell County Courthouse stands on the courthouse square in the center of Yanceyville, North Carolina. Caswell County was formed in 1777 and in 1792 surveyors found the geographic center of the county and the original courthouse was built in what would become Yanceyville. From 1792 through 1833 the small village was known simply as Caswell Courthouse. The first courthouse to stand here was completed in 1794. In the early 1830’s a second courthouse was built and with its dedication in 1833, the village of Caswell Courthouse became Yanceyville. The current courthouse was designed by William Percival and was completed in 1861 and is still in use today.
