Marilao Post #33, Veterans of Foreign Wars has its origins in the Marilao Camp of the Army of the Philippines. Marilao being the name of a Philippine river. The Army of The Philippines amaigamated with the American Veterans of Foreign Service in 1913. This amalgamated unit was reorganized and became Marilao Post #33, Veterans of Foreign Wars at a meeting held on August 21st, 1914. This first meeting was held in the Armory Hall with V.F.W. National Senior Vice Commander R.G. Woodside of Pittsburgh presiding. Subsequent meetings for many years were held in the G.A.R. rooms in the Courthouse.

Present at the first meeting were: Cyrus P. Markle, Harry O. Smith, Harry F. Brewer, Lawrence J. Kinzle, Joseph S. Thomas, Vance E. Miller, A.C. Remaley, William H. Leacock, A.F. Rugh, J.L. Keihl, A.C. Johnson, J.C. Hamilton, Jr. and Miles Graham. Elected as the new Post's First Commander was A.C. Remaley with H.F. Brewer elected as Adjutant and A.C. Johnson elected as Paymaster.

The new Post formerly received its Charter on April 17th, 1915 with 70 Charter Members, many of whom were transfers from the Jeannette V.F.W. Post.

During the 80 years of Marilao Post #33, V.F.W.'s existence there has been a total of 54 Commanders. The earliest Past Commander is R.C. Remaley who served in 1914. There has been one father-son combination, that being William T. Dom, Jr. (1924) and William T. Dom, III (1947-48).

Post #33 is number 32 in terms of longevity in the National Organization. Apparently the #33 was a re-issue of a previously defunct Post's number.
