"Old Bethel Cemetery and first church established at this site in 1830's. Nearby Austinville community circa 1840's was on stagecoach route from Milton to Geneva, Alabama"
The marker also recognizes the significance of Old Bethel Church, a log structure that stood on the cemetery grounds into the early 1960s.
