Turin's beautiful cathedral was built in Renaissance style at the end of the fifteenth century (completed in 1598 and consacrated in 1605). It was built on a site previously occupied by three ancient Medieval churches. The building is embellished by Guarini's Chapel of the Holy Shroud that houses the cloth placed on Jesus' body at the time of his burial. The chapel was built during the seventeenth century and provides access to Turin's Royal Palace.
On the occasion of the 5th centenary of its construction the stamp depicting the place was issued. On the backround of the picture there is contour of presumed Jesus face from the Holy Shroud is depicted.
