Taras Shevchenko 3. 9. 1814 - 3. 10. 1961 National Poet of Ukraine, Champion of justice and freedom for all He revived and inspired a nation downtrodden by oppression - and his fearless appeal to right and truth speaks as eloquently in our time as it did in his. Erected by the Ukrainian Canadian Community to commemorate centenary of poet's death. July, 1961. Ukrainian Canadian Committee 70th Anniversary of Ukrainian Settlement in Canada.
