The depicted interesting building, nowadays depository of State district archive, was originally the main synagogue of Jewish community in town Nový Jicín.
The synagogue was built in 1908 according to a project of architect Ernst Lindner from Vienna. The structure was built by the local construction company of Richard Klose. The building was used as a warehouse during the WWII, and by the Czechoslovak Hussite Church after the war. It housed the district archive depositary from 1967 and for this purpose the area of the hall was divided into three storeys using an iron structure. The other adjoining rooms have flat ceilings. A memorial plaque, commemorating the Nazi' pogrom in 1938 with text in Hebrew, Czech and German, was unveiled on the front facade of the synagogue in 1992.
