On the Finger Lakes Trail, near Hornell, this trail register is within sight of the summit of Bald Hill. This is the westernmost trail register in Steuben County

A mailbox mounted on a tree along the trail, this is what I call "field expedient". This section of the Finger Lakes Trail is also designated as part of the North Country Scenic Trails (NCT)
Bald Hill wasn't always bald, of course. The hills throughout this area are covered in second growth forest around the ravines and other areas not suitable for farming. The top of the hill is wide and flat, though, and well suited for cornfields and dairy farms.
In April 2014 over 100 people passed by this register as part of the Steuben County hike series. We wee broken up into 9 groups, roughly segregated by our hiking speed, so you won't find 100 individual entries. Rather, you will find entries made by the hike leaders, sometimes designating the number of hikers in his/her group, but always listing the date and time they passed through.
