EN: The restaurant "zur Rose" is located in Flueh on the border to Bättwil. The two-storey building with a half-hipped roof and the distinctive half-timbered bay window above the entrance was built in 1688.

I could not find out any details about its history, but it is not unlikely that the house was an inn since the beginning. Flüh was a popular leisure destination of the Basel Society in the late Middle Ages, and frequent overnight accommodation for pilgrims to the adjacent Mariastein.

DE: Das Restaurant zur Rose befindet sich in Flüh an der Grenze zu Bättwil. Das zweistöckige Gebäude mit einem Krüppelwalmdach und dem markanten Fachwerkerker über dem Eingangsbereich wurde 1688 erbaut.

Näheres zur Geschichte konnte ich nicht in Erfahrung bringen, es ist aber nicht unwahrscheinlich, dass das Haus seit Beginn ein Gasthaus war. Flüh war seit dem späten Mittelalter ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel der Basler Gesellschaft und häufiger Übernachtungsort für Pilger nach dem benachbarten Mariastein.
