Pittsburgh Bureau of Police - Zone #5 Police Station- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The City of Pittsburgh was incorporated in 1816 when the population was 9,000. In 1857 an ordinance was adopted that established the police department for Pittsburgh to consist of one chief and not more than nine constables. Today, the Bureau of Police is comprised of approximately 900 sworn law enforcement officers who proudly serve the residents and visitors of Pittsburgh.

The Zone #5 Police station covers Neighborhoods east of Lawrenceville and North of the Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway to the Allegheny River.
Note about this police station:
On April 4, 2009, three Pittsburgh police officers were killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic disturbance in the Stanton Heights area of the city. The officers, all from the Zone 5 station are Eric Kelly, a 14-year veteran of the Bureau, Stephen Mayhle, and Paul Sciullo II, both two-year veterans. Two other officers were injured. Timothy McManaway was shot in the hand trying to help Officer Kelly, and Brian Jones broke his leg when a fence collapsed. Police Chief Nathan Harper said Officer Mayhle was married and had two children; Officer Kelly was married and had three children; and Officer Sciullo was single. There are a few memorials on the grounds of the police station to memorialize the fallen at this location.

Visit Instructions:
To log a visit, you must post a photo of you in front of the building described, with your GPS in the photo. No drive by photos.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
