The Wallerawang Post Office was originally at nearby Lidsdale & was established in 1870. After the opening of the Wallerawang Railway Station the Post Office was established here under the control of the station master & was called Wallerawang Station Post Office. It was later transferred to separate premises beside the Cobb & Co. booking office & became known as Wallerawang Post Office with a Post Master in charge. In its heyday in 1883 it handled 758 letters a week, 3290 telegrams issued & 3318 telegrams transmitted. Staff worked from 9 a.m to 8 p.m.
I obtained this information from a nearby display of the town's history & have attached a photograph.
It is now a LPO & offers all postal services plus has a gift shop.
