This headstone marks the grave of L. Duane "Duke" Johnson, who served as a missionary to Native Americans (especially Navajo and Hopi) in Arizona for more than 40 years. His grave marker includes many symbols associated with this work: an outline map of the reservations, a pair of dwellings, a book, and an art piece. The marker includes the words "FAITHFUL MISSIONARIES 1964-2005." The marker is near the entrance and sign at the northeast corner of the cemetery (visible in the foreground of the overview photo below).
