EN: The rectory of Oberwil is the most important architectural heritage of the municipality. It is located at Bielstrasse opposite the church.

The house was built in 1783 after a decades-long dispute over the cost of the new building had to be decided in court.

The two-storey house with mansard roof belongs stylistically to the late Baroque period, but the French-influenced façade structure of the house also marks the transition to early classicism. These style elements are extremely rare in formerly rural areas, so the rectory is of particular importance.

During an internal renovation in 1970 a wall painting cycle of the 1820s under the wallpaper in the study on the first floor was discovered and restored. The whole painting is about 7.6 to 2 meters tall and shows the landscapes around Oberwil with the neighboring communities.

DE: Das Pfarrhaus von Oberwil ist das bedeutendste Baudenkmal der Gemeinde. Es befindet sich an der Bielstrasse gegenüber der Kirche.

Das Haus wurde 1783 erbaut, nachdem ein jahrzehntelanger Rechtsstreit über die Kosten des Neubaus gerichtlich entschieden werden musste.

Das zweigeschossige Haus mit Mansarddach gehört stilistisch zum Spätbarock, die französisch beeinflusste Fassadengliederung des Hauses markiert aber auch den Übergang zum Frühklassizismus. Diese Stilelemente sind in ehemals ländlichen Regionen äusserst selten, deshalb kommt dem Pfarrhaus eine besondere Bedeutung zu.

Bei einer Innenrenovation 1970 wurde im Studierzimmer im ersten Stockunter den Tapeten ein Wandbilderzyklus aus den 1820er Jahren entdeckt und wieder hergestellt. Das gesamte Gemälde ist etwa 7.6 auf 2 Meter gross und zeigt die Landschaften um Oberwil mit den benachbarten Gemeinden.
