Signage tells us: "Genus Kaleidoscopus, AKA, "Kallie". Artist: Roger Haar. Sponsor: City of Lakeland."

In October 2006, butterfly sculptures - 35 of them with wingspans of 5 feet to 7 feet - began appearing around Lakeland. The public-art project was sponsored by Kaleidoscope, a partnership that united the community to raise funds for Common Ground, an inclusive playground for children of varying abilities and disabilities. There are now 88 and counting insect sculptures in the Lakeland area.
