The box is set in red brick which itself is set in a typical flint Norfolk Wall. It appears to have had many coats of paint over the years but is suprisingly clean and shiny. There are holes around the keyholes which may indicate a replacenent lock.
The wall into which it is built is leaning forward at an alarming angle and the box is a few feet from the back gateway of a group of traditional Norfolk cottages.
Tell us about the area the post box is situated.:
Buxton is a large village to the north of Norwich. It is separated fron it's sister village of Lamas by the river Bure. It has one church, St Andrews, one pub, the Black Lion, and a station on the narrow gauge Bure Valley Railway. The mill was mentioned in the Domesday Book.
Back lane is a small winding connection between Coltoshall Road and the main A140 norwich to Cromer Road. It goes up, down and round the houses but isn't wide enough for motor vehicles to pass safely.
