"Igreja datada de 1738 e um dos mais belos templos do Grande Porto, pela unidade dos seus elementos arquitectónicos e ornamentais. Apresenta uma planta típica da Contra-Reforma, constituída por uma só nave que termina numa capela-mor quadrangular. Cobrem-na falsas abóbadas de berço em madeira. O altar possui um exemplar de talha dourada notável; no topo deste altar é de realçar a cruz de malta. Estes exemplares de talha dourada encontros também na nave foram realizados aquando das obras de restauro em 26 de Junho de 1996. Durante as obras de restauro foram descobertas duas cruzes de malta que se encontravam ocultas na parede, e um quadro que estava atrás da imagem de Nª Sª do Bom Despacho. No corpo da igreja é de salientar um magnífico vitral de Nª Sª do Bom Despacho.
Na capela-mor encontra-se a sepultura do Padre Vicente Gramaxo que cedeu o terreno, e na entrada frontal da igreja a sepultura de Domingos Luís Barreiro Tomé, benfeitor que financiou a construção da mesma. A torre é posterior datando de 1870. À mercê da ajuda dos brasileiros foram introduzidos acrescentos. Em 1876 inaugurava-se o sino grande, e em 1891, dois outros seriam oferecidos pelo ex. emigrante José da Silva Figueira (Visconde de Barreiros).
A igreja ostenta uma fachada de barroco nacional, austero e simples. Dividida em três ramos por pilastras lisas e pouco salientes, mostra no centro, mais largo, um pórtico rectangular com frontão interrompido por duas caprichosas volutas, sobrepujadas por um óculo quadrilobado. No frontão mistilíneo, abre-se um pequeno nicho com imagem pétrea do padroeiro. De cada lado, coroando os ramos laterais, erguem-se dois nichos rematados por balaústres e pinículo, semelhando sineiras. À direita levanta-se um torre sineira de três pisos, adossada à fachada e coberta por cúpula pétrea piramidal regular. Toda a frontaria, incluindo a torre, é revestida a azulejo do 3º quartel do século XIX."

The church boasts a façade of national, stark and simple baroque. In mistilíneo pediment, opens a small niche with stony image of the patron saint. On each side, crowning the lateral branches, rise up two niches topped by balustrades and pinículo, resembling bell. To the right rises a bell tower with three floors, addorsed to the facade and covered by stony regular pyramidal dome. The entire façade, including the tower is clad in tiles of the 3rd quarter of the nineteenth century."
