Kane Gap in Powell Mountain is one of the few sites on the Wilderness Trail where you can actually walk in the footsteps of the famed frontiersman Daniel Boone.

The Gap here in Powell Mountain known as Kane Gap is where the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail to Kentucky passed. This photo of the Gap was taken on the Scott County side of the Gap just below the old Pioneer Shelter, just before crossing into Lee County.
