The trail begins at the Infinity Science Center and is a half-mile down to Old Pearlington Road and back. There are several birdhouses along the trail, mostly along the northern side but there are a few along the southern side.
Each of the birdhouses is erected to highlight an individual species of bird one may see along the Mississippi Coastal Heritage Trail.
There are informational pamphlets at the trailhead.
Interstate 10 bisects the trail, so one may not cross over to the northern section of the trail except by driving around toward Napoleon Cemetery.
