In the downtown area along 2nd Street (the original Route 66 through Wellston) is a park commemorating the town. A large mural shows the town's history, and a wood gazebo offers a place to sit and relax. The park area has been financed by donations from the local community. A path of brick pavers leads to the gazebo on the west side, and contains an estimated 700 names.

A large sign in the park solicits donations to the "Main Street Park Development Project", a project of the Wellston Chamber of Commerce. The sign declares: "Mark Your Place in Wellston's History - A Brick is Forever".

It's great to see a town proud of its history and making strong efforts to preserve its legacy.
