Located in downtown Lodi is a freestanding historical arch known as 'Lodi Arch or 'Mission Arch'. The arch contains three bells as well as a bear statue on top (the state animal). There are numerous historical plaques that note this arch's history. There is an official California Historical Marker that hangs on the north side of the west leg of the arch and reads:
LODI ARCHDESIGNED BY ARCHITECT E.B. BROWN AND BUILT IN 1907 FOR THE LODI TOKAY CARNIVAL, THE ARCH SERVED AS AN ENTRANCE INTO LODI AND A SYMBOL OF AGRICULTURAL AND COMMERICAL GROWTH. ESSENTIALLY UNALTERED SINCE CONSTRUCTION, THE STRUCTURE IS ONE OF FEW REMAINING MISSION REVIVAL CEREMONIAL ARCHES LEFT WITHIN CALIFORNIA.
CALIFORNIA REGISTERED HISTORICAL LANDMARK NO. 931
PLAQUE PLACED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION IN COOPERATION WITH THE CITY OF LODI.
