To avoid flooding towns upstream and regulate the Charente, locks were installed. Thereon downstream of Cognac, a fishway was installed, allowing upstream.
Pour éviter les inondations des villes en amont et réguler la Charente, des écluses ont été installées. Sur celle-ci en aval de Cognac, une passe à poissons a été installée, permettant de remonter la rivière.
