The cemetery has been used by the Baptists, Methodists and Congregationalists. It was the earliest cemetery in town that exists, however there was one the existed on the town common. Among the buried is John Spurr, a participant in the Boston Tea Party, William Weld, owner of the tavern in the village, and John Grizzly Adams, the hunter and showman for the Barnum and Bailey Circus.
