Der Inselbahnhof in Uelzen ist vom berühmten Baumeister Hubert Stier entworfen und wurde 1887 in Betrieb genommen. Als weltweites Projekt der Weltausstellung Expo 2000 wurde der Bahnhof umgestaltet. Für die künstlerische Neugestaltung konnte der öster-reichische Maler und Architektur-Doktor Friedensreich Hundertwasser gewonnen werden. Nach seinen Vorgaben wurde das Gebäude von 1998 bis 2000 umgebaut. Heute zählt der Hundertwasser-Bahnhof zu den zehn schönsten Bahnhöfen der Welt.

The island railway station in Uelzen is by the famous architect Hubert Stier designed and was taken in 1887 in operation. As a global project of the World Expo 2000, the station was redesigned. For artistic redesign was the Austrian Painters and architecture Doctor Friedensreich Hundertwasser be won. According to its specifications, the building was rebuilt from 1998 to 2000. Today, the Hundertwasser Station is one of the ten most beautiful train stations in the world.
