This weathered, white sign simply says "This section of fence donated in memory of Eunice Tanner," without any details. It's possible that this is she, buried not far from here in Grapevine Cemetery. (visit link)

The adjacent Lonesome Dove Baptist Church served as an inspiration to author Larry McMurtry, who saw a church van with the name on the side while he was at an Oklahoma restaurant. And so, McMurtry's novel became "Lonesome Dove."
