Schonbrunn Castle has a very interactive playground area...which is just as intersting for adults as for children. For example, there is a huge bird over a sandpit which folks can climb onto by the rope that connects the wings and the tension on the riope causes the wings to flap. Once one gets to the seat in the birds belly, the wings can be flapped on purpose. There are also two challenging mazes. These audipipes are near the mazes and a sign indicates that each of the two speakers seen in this Waymark's featured photo are connected to two other respective audiopipes at different ends of the maze permitting the users to chat and gossip.
Scientific Principle(s) being demonstrated: sound waves travelling through a long tube can still carry the human voice with sufficient distinction to be understood.
Briefly explain if the experiment was effective for you. Could it have been better?: We didn't try it since we had already gone through the maze when we discovered it.
When is the apparatus/experiment available to the public: year round 9 to 5
