Meshack's made Texas Monthly's Top 50 list in 2013, which should make anybody's ears perk up and make them consider a visit. They are closed Sunday and Monday, open Tuesday 10:30–5:00 and Wednesday through Saturday 10:30–7:00. These should be considered "guidelines," as they really are open until they sell out. That can be as early as 1 to 2 PM, no kidding. Cash and credit cards are accepted.
They offer baby back ribs, brisket (sliced or chopped), and sausage (regular or spicy), and a photo of their menu is in the gallery. You can order these by the pound, on sandwiches, as roll ups, or as part of plate combos, and they offer potato salad and baked beans as sides. You can also order "Da Jasper," which is a huge sandwich made up of chopped brisket and sausage, and you'll want to eat it with a fork. Water and canned drinks are available, and if you have a sweet tooth, you can get a slice of lemon cake for dessert. There is no such thing as a pig-out meal, as you can order all you like by the pound, and those going on the cheap can get a roll-up for a buck and a quarter. Most visitors here are getting sandwiches to take back home.
Be aware that they are liberal with their sauce here, so if you have other preferences, ask for the sauce on the side. If anything, they are best known for their ribs, and they sell out of those first, sometimes within an hour of opening. Make certain you plan accordingly.
Again, this is a shack. There is no place to sit and dine here, unless you want to make yourself comfortable on one of the tree stumps where folks wait (average of ten minutes) for their orders. There are no tables, no high chairs, none of that. You order, you wait, they hand you your food (and the service is terrific), and that's it. Best suggestion is to take your goodies on over to the Garland town square, hope they'll get the fountains working again one day, and enjoy your meal on a nice day.
