This sculpture by Michael Grossert was erected in 1976 as the winner of a competition organized by the municipal arts promotion committee. In the beginning it was highly controversial, conservative voices called it a shame for the city and the responsible department. Shortly after the rection it was even vandalized.
Today the piece is broadly accepted, sometimes even loved, especially by local kids who enjoy climbing around it. In 2010 it was carefully refurbished.
