See a National Natural Landmark and enjoy either of two short hikes.
The one mile is HC accessible; partially concrete paved, and part boardwalk. The three mile could be slippery when wet, but is passable by strollers (three steps that I recall).

This is a place to see migratory birds, learn more in the visitor center, launch a kayak? or canoe? (no motorized). Pets, smoking, and bicycles are prohibited. There are restrooms at the two parking areas. Parking can be limited, 15 by the Slough trail and 20 or so by the visitor center. One can see Mt. Diablo from I-5.
Then take the Twin Cities exit east to Franklin road.
Carry your own drinking water.
Volunteers make this a special place. Nine agencies cooperate including the Galt Union school district.
Allow two hours for the three mile trail and 1/2 to 1 hour for the one mile trail. The boardwalk has no side rails except at the turnaround point.
