"The young Bombardier discovered his passion for mechanics at Valcourt, a small farming village in the Eastern Townships of Québec. As early as age 13, he was ingeniously manufacturing tractors, locomotives, and miniature boats equipped with clockwork mechanisms. Everything around him seemed to stimulate his inventive mind: he connected an aunt's spinning wheel to a steam engine and converted an old rifle to a miniature cannon. It was then that he glimpsed the challenge of his career: liberating the countryside from the long, oppressive winter by conquering the obstacle of snow."

"Le jeune Bombardier découvre sa passion pour la mécanique à Valcourt, petit village agricole des Cantons de l'Est. Dès l'âge de 13 ans, il s'ingénie à fabriquer des tracteurs, des locomotives, des bateaux miniatures et les munit de mécanismes d'horloges. Tout ce qui l'entoure semble stimuler son esprit inventif : le rouet d'une tante, qu'il dote d'un moteur à vapeur fabriqué avec des pièces de machine à coudre, un vieux fusil, qu'il transforme en mini-canon à poudre. Puis il entrevoit le défi de sa carrière : libérer les campagnes du lourd et lent hiver qui rend souvent si difficile l'accès à des services essentiels. Vaincre l'obstacle qu'est la neige en... glissant dessus."
