Usually lions come in paris, but this time not. A landmark of any Indon city of any size is a monument recording the glorious revolution against the oppressive, imperialist Dutch colonial rulers of Indonesia, and Jogja City is no exception. There is a large and impressive monument near the city centre. It features the usual assortment of military men, striding forward, purposefully. One feature of the monument is a stone lion.
The lion is a somewhat stylised Asian looking lion, laying on a plinth, on the southern side of the monument. At the time of my visit the grounds were under lock and key, and I could not enter. It is my understanding, however, that entry is possible on most occasions.
