The upper white elephant looks real, while the lower white elephant is the White Elephant Store. This store opened in 1976 making our white elephant coming up on 38 years old as of 2014. It is perched atop the front of the store, balancing a very big beach ball and wearing a blanket bearing the number "2", symbolic of this being the second White Elephant Store. The first opened 30 years prior in north Spokane. Originally the stores were primarily an army surplus reseller and gradually moved into the outdoor sporting arena.
