Jogja (as it is known) is the tourism city of Java, a pleasant spot. In the serious and busy business area of the city is the Bank, and at the street entrance to the Bank is this towering sculpture. It is ~7m high, and consists of a pillar holding a circle inside a square (or maybe the other way around). At the base, facing out into the street is the plaque with faded text.
I was able to obtain local translation advice. The plaque says the following:
The sculpture itself relates to the indigenous Javanese understanding of the universe, squares, circles, and shapes. It was given to the city in recognition of the cities cultural importance. The artist is named Pematung Kasmanks. The year was 1991. Dimensions given: 250x250x92cm.
Entry to the grounds is unrestricted.
