An early vestige of Mt. Pleasant anchors the northwest corner of East and Union Street. The former Bank of Mt Pleasant (265 Union St., circa 1816) is a symmetrical three bay, Federal style building laid in Flemish bond. The tax duplicate for 1838 assessed "1 banking house" at $672 for a 30' portion of Lot 34.
