"Unhos parish is very ancient, probably pre-nationality. It is difficult to derive this toponym of any old word, is however possible to relate it, for example, with the parishes of Unhais-o-Velho (Pampilhosa da Serra), Unhais da Serra (Covilha) or Unhão (Felgueiras ).
It is known that the town would already be inhabited in prehistoric times, from the Chalcolithic artifacts have been discovered at the site of Catujal. The church of San Silvestre date of 1191, the earliest reference to the place."
