A placard next to this sarcophagus informs us:
"Found near the Vatican sacristy and
containing two burials, this sarcophagus is
of the basin type (lenos) with leonine
protomes and elegant architectonic
elements. The scene shows the traditional
cortege of Dionysus, including maenads,
satyrs, cupids riding on panthers. Dated
to around 150 AD."
