This is a tall cross with a sword in relief on its front. The cross is mounted on an octagonal plinth of five steps, the middle step carrying the WWI dedication panel and four name panels. On the lower step are three added panels carrying the WWII dedication and names. On the second step is a flower vase holder with 'We Will Remember Them' inscribed on it. The whole memorial is set up to the left of the cemetery entrance gate in a shady corner, unfortunately it's a bit noisy due to the proximity of the main road from Heybridge to Goldhanger and Mersea and passing several caravan sites.

Although there are eight name panels only four of them are used, the dedication panel is:

                    To the Glory of God
                    and in Honour of the
                    Men of this Parish
                    Who fell during the
                         Great War
                        1914 - 1918
The names recorded are on the four adjacent panels and read from left to right:
Long.C.S Anthony.C.S. Cobey.J.A. Rushen W.W.
Long.E.J. Austin.F.G. Davis.W.E. Smith.A.C.
Miller.T. Austin.H. DeCrespigny.C.N.C. Smith.A.T.
Myall.E.J. Barbrook.A. Free.M. South.S.W.
Myall.G.E. Barbrook.E.B. Frost. C.H. Westmacott.E.W.P.
Mynard.L. Bentall.E.H. Harvey.E.H. Wire.T.B.
Payne.E. Boutell.H.C Hinton.E.F. Wood.W
Powell.B.A. Braybrook.E.W. Hinton.W. Woodcraft.E.
Rice.G.G. Brewer.S.E. Hutchinson.T.U.
The WWII dedication is:
                         In Memory of Those Killed
                             In the World War
                                 1939-1945
The names are on the two panels to the side of the central dedication panel and read:
                    Akehurst E.H. Jocham H.C.
                    Bailey I.M. Jones E.A.
                    Buck D. Moss D.W.
                    Gates L.R. Newman C.J.
                    Collins R. Newton W.H.J.
                    Everett S. Redgewell C.
                    Gill K.T. Shambrook F.M.
                    Hume M.A. Taylor H.F.
                    				Wisbey R.
As can be seen from the photos the lettering on this memorial is quite feint and difficult to read. Happily I can report that it was given a clean in 2013 to remove the algal and lichen growth of years, this done after the gallery photos were taken, and the lettering has been restored to its normal legibility again.

The co-ordinates given are for the entrance to the cemetery.
