At about 600 km away from Santiago de Compostela, "Parque das Nações" was the site where the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition (Expo 98) took place.
The "Expo 98" was an official specialised World's Fair held here from May 22 to September 30, 1998.
The theme of the fair was "The Oceans, a Heritage for the Future".
This theme was chosen in part to commemorate the 500 years of Portuguese Discoveries.
The "Expo 98" received around 11 million visitors and 155 countries and organizations were represented.
From the same spot there are signs pointing to the famous Portuguese pilgrimage place: Fátima.
