Facile d'accès (2 km après la sortie d'autoroute A10 n°32), il se trouve à 60 km de La Rochelle et à 80 km de Poitiers, au milieu d'une ligne verticale Nantes Bordeaux.
Présentation :
L'aérodrome de Niort-Marais poitevin permet l’accueil d'aéronefs de type avions de transport régionaux, avions de transport militaire, avions d'affaires et avions légers. Il comptabilise chaque année en moyenne 35000 mouvements (décollages ou atterrissages).
Depuis la réouverture de la tour de contrôle en octobre 2012, le service d'information de vol AFIS (Aerodrome Flight Information Service) est assuré en langue française et en langue anglaise, de jour comme de nuit, par deux agents de la Ville : informations sur la sécurité et la bonne conduite des vols, instructions aux aéronefs circulant sur les aires de mouvements, renseignements météorologiques...
L'aérodrome est opérationnel toute l'année, 7 jours sur 7, 24 heures sur 24. Des systèmes d'astreinte sont mis en place pour pouvoir répondre à une demande d'atterrissage ou de décollage dans les 15 minutes.
