Simply put, Los Molcajetes doesn't get bad reviews. Sure, some folks have their preferences, some are fussier than others, but this strip mall restaurant is an absolute gem, and they really don't get the press they deserve. Then again, there are enough of us regulars to fill the seats here, so the wanna-bes can keep on going to the chain restaurants.
See their website for their full menu, as there are plenty of great dishes here, either of authentic Mexican fare -- QDV has yet to try the menudo, available only on weekends -- or Tex-Mex. Portions are huge and reasonably-priced, while service is typically very, very fast, even when they're busy. This is a large restaurant, and at peak hours, it can fill up and create lines, but the servers still manage to take care of everybody. Beer, wine, margaritas, and soft drinks are available, and their desserts are terrific if you still have room.
They also serve breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 12 PM. They accept credit cards and are a child-friendly restaurant.
