While walking through downtown Alturas we came across this very-historic-looking stone building and I had hoped there was some history attached to it. Upon doing a little research online I discovered a website that highlights historic buildings as part of a walking tour of the City of Alturas. This former blacksmith shop is featured in the walking tour of Alturas and the
website reference to this blacksmith shop
reads:
Marker 9. The Miller/Arena Blacksmith Shop was constructed out of local stone for Mr. Brunell W. Miller in 1909. It was used periodically as a blacksmith shop by Mr. Albert Arena up until his death.
Our family looked inside the building and noticed it was still filled with blacksmithing-type equipment but also looks to be used for storage of city equipment and the building doesn't look to have been used for anything in a number of years.
