The Pioneer Family sculpture dominates the south end of the ND State Capitol Grounds. It is a moving, evocative sculpture, full of the sense of pride and purpose these families felt as they left civilization behind for the frontier. The relationship between the figures shows the unity of purpose in this family. It is clear that they all rely on one another.

Blasterz think the lone wagon wheel suggests how they made the journey west. The artist has said that it symbolizes "civilization on the march." Source: (visit link)
