El Parque Nacional del Teide ocupa la zona más alta de la isla de Tenerife y de España. Declarado el 22 de enero de 1954 como Parque Nacional, es el mayor y más antiguo de los parques nacionales de las Islas Canarias y el tercero más antiguo de España. En 2007 fue declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. El parque tiene una superficie de 189,9 km².
En esta zona se encuentra el volcán del Teide que con sus 3.718 metros, es el pico más alto de Canarias, de España y de cualquier tierra emergida del Océano Atlántico. Es además, el tercer volcán más grande del mundo desde su base en el lecho oceánico, sólo superado por el Mauna Kea y el Mauna Loa en Hawái. La altura del Teide convierte además a la isla de Tenerife en la décima isla más alta de todo el mundo.
El Pico del Teide es un volcán. Se levanta de una enorme caldera 17 kilómetros de diámetro, llamado Las Cañadas. Numerosas coladas de diferentes erupciones junto a las montañas y volcanes repartido por todo el parque forman un paisaje característico.
En el Parque Nacional del Teide se suman un total de 168 plantas superiores. De ellas, 58 son consideradas plantas endémicas canarias.

This area is dominated by the volcano Teide, which at 3,718 meters is the highest peak of the Canary Islands, Spain and any Atlantic Ocean landmass. It is also the world's third largest volcano from its base on the ocean floor, only surpassed by the Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa in Hawaii. The height of Teide also makes the island of Tenerife in the 10th highest island in the world.
The Pico del Teide is a stratovolcano. It rises from a huge caldera 17 km in diameter, called Las Cañadas. Many different eruptions along the mountains and volcanoes scattered around formed a distinctive landscape. The Teide National Park als oncomprises 168 higher plants.
