The K&S Trail switches back several times as it climbs above the highway, up to where some of the silver mines of 120 years ago were situated. As one follows the trail southeast toward the Ghost Town of Sandon one will encounter some of the old mines and their artefacts along the trail. A mountain trail, it is rated much higher than a 1.5 in difficulty. The trail is about 7 to 8 km. from this location to Sandon.

The K & S was the Kaslo and Slocan Railway, which ran 53.5 km. through what was known as The Silvery Slocan, a valley which produced great quantities of silver at the turn of the twentieth century. The valley runs generally east and west between New Denver, on Slocan Lake, in the west and Kaslo, on Kootenay Lake, in the east.

Parking is available at the pullout at the Kiosk.
