This airport is located in the surroundings of Rome, not too far for a second airport. Easy connections by a handful of bus companies. It used to be an Air Force Base and the runway is still used by the military.
It's a relatively small airport, but not bad. Possible to spend the night there, and if one looks carefully there are even power sockets to keep electronic devices running and etc. Wi-Fi available for a price, although the initial hour is for free.
If you have time you can take a look at the old helicopters on display (well, you can only look from outside the fence) in the nearby military facilities. Also, there is an important old Roman road passing at walkable distance (about 400 m) from the airport.
