The Biblioteca Municipal de Faro, as any municipal library in Portugal, is part of a nationwide network of libraries which catalogs can be consulted online.
It's located in a central spot of the city, close to the main parking facility and it's hosted by the building of the former slaughterhouse from which anyway only the splendid facade is original.
There are two entrances to the library, one from the street and a second one from the city park Alameda João de Deus.
The city library was created in 1902, but until 1943 nothing was done to actually provide the readers with an effective library. However only in 2001 the library moved to the nowadays facilities.
