This compass rose is located in a pavilion overlooking the Dana Point Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. It is frequently used for weddings, and the Blue Lantern Inn is just steps away. This is a popular spot from which to view sunset.
The truly unique thing to notice is that although the compass design itself is small, the entire pavilion is built in an octagon representing the points of the compass.
If you are into geocaching, the cache "Dana's Point of View" is located within the pavilion.
