EN: This villa in the residential district of Arlesheim was built in 1902 by the famous architect Gustav Adolf Visscher van Gaasbeek as a private residence for himself and his family. The country house is a prototype of the English Arts and Crafts Movement that just came up strong at this time. Als Gegenbewegung zur Industrialisierung forderte diese Bewegung eine Architektur, die sich auf die menschlichen Bedürfnisse ausrichtet und sich an lokalen ländlichen Traditionen orientiert. Die Fachwerkfassaden mit Zitaten aus dem Steinbau, die individuelle Raumaufteilung und das Farbkonzept seiner Villa erfüllen diese Forderungen beispielhaft. Da nur wenige Landhäuser in diesem Baustil so original in der Region erhalten sind, besitzt dieses Haus eine eine hohe architekturgeschichtliche Bedeutung.
