A dynamic building
The assignment was to make room for the new merged bank which was created by the merger of two Rabobank offices, Roermond and Echt. The building was to be a statement in the middle of the area and provide office space for 220 employees. In the new industrial development on the south side of Roermond, the municipality had the entrance to the A73 a striking high-rise building features. As a designer , we have brought these two ideas together and have accepted the challenge to connect with large elongated building.
High element
By putting the crooked walls and facades appears as if the volumes are connected underground. The south oriented leaning tower stands in his own shadow so that the building is not heated in the summer, and thus less cooling is required. The leaning volumes are designed as a sculpture making it appear to move in the long drive. The building thus exudes dynamism which fits well with the identity of the Rabobank .
Personally I think the architect was playing with Rubik's snake making the Loch Ness monster
