History of the limestone quarrying in Vápenný Podol is quite old. In lower part of the village one can find preserved old lime kiln, which is a cultural monument. The double stone blast furnace for burning limestone was built by builder Patleich of Hützing in 1863. It is the oldest and only standing furnace in the municipality, which was known for its extraction of high quality limestone in the past.
