According to the dates of birth and death, Ernest Leslie Peatt was about a month shy of 2 years old when he passed away. The Peatt family donated land for several significant features in Colwood, including for the first schoolhouse in 1874, the first Anglican church (Saint John the Baptist Church) in 1913, and for this very cemetery in the 1890s, in which they would later be buried. Peatt Road in nearby Langford is named after the pioneering family.
Beside the broken column marker for Ernest, there's also a small marker with the words "Baby Harry". It's unknown when he was born or died, but it can be assumed he was part of the Peatt family based on his burial location.
