Long Description:
Walter Jones is laid to rest alongside his wife Maude in Rush Springs Cemetery. They have a pink granite headstone, with rusticated edges. Their surname JONES is engraved at the center top with their names and dates engraved on open Bibles beneath.

Walter's inscription reads:

Feb. 23, 1879
Mar. 21, 1980

* Before Walter was one year old, work had begun on the Panama Canal.
* He was ten when the poem "Casey at Bat" was published.
* The U.S. declared war on Spain and we entered the Spanish-American War when Walter was twenty.
* He was 28 when Oklahoma became a state.
* Walter was fifty when Herbert Hoover was inaugurated President.
* The Polaroid camera debuted when Walter was 70.
* Walter was 90 when the first Boeing 747 commercial flight took place.
* Willy Mays was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame the year Walter passed away.
